Mr. Robert Spiteri

After teaching Computing for over 20 years, Robert presently works as a Vocational IT and ICT Teacher at Savio College in Dingli. He is also a Freelance Web Developer developing projects mainly using HTML5 and PHP. Robert is an ECDL Certified Tutor and Tester (2004), a Linux Systems Administrator certified by L.P.I. (October 2007), an Android Developer 1 (certified by ICE Malta 2012) and has also obtained the ECDL Advanced Certification (certified by ICE Malta 2014). His programming skills cover Java, PHP, HTML5, WordPress CMS, Android Development, Joomla CMS, SQL, VB Script, Pascal, BASIC and Bash Scripting. Apart from using the Windows operating system, Robert has been working on Linux based and BSD operating systems since 2003. Building responsive and adaptive websites as well as Android applications is his favourite hobby amongst other things.
Pure Mathematics Advanced
Mr. Ivan Tonna

Ivan Tonna teaches Pure Mathematics at Intermediate and Advanced Level at the Junior College, University of Malta. He has more than 25 years of experience in teaching Maths at Advanced level including 17 years at Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School. He graduated from the University of Malta with a degree in Mathematics and Physics, followed by a diploma in Education and a Masters in Physics.

Mr. Howard Zammit

Graduated in 1994 in B. Ed (Hons) in Physics and Mathematics, followed by MSc. in 2003. Taught Physics for 3 years in state Junior Lyceum.
Teacher of Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Physics at the G. Curmi Higher Secondary Naxxar for 8 years.
Part time teacher of Physics at St Martin’s College Sixth Form for 2 years.

Mr. Andrew Galea

Andrew Galea graduated from the University of Malta in 1999 with a Bachelor of Education (Honours) degree in Biology and Chemistry. He started his career in 1999 and has been teaching Chemistry for the past 22 years at SEC level. For the last 12 years, he has been teaching Chemistry at Advanced Level at Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School. He currently serves as a visiting lecturer with the Faculty of Education at the University of Malta where he teaches Science Foundation for the B.Sc Home Economics degree for the past 16 years. His methodology revolves around maximising students’ comprehension and applying Chemical principles in everyday life.

Ms. Susan Cassar

B.Ed. (English) and M.Ed., is a qualified English teacher with vast experience in helping students succeed at both Advanced and Intermediate level. She has been teaching English at Post-Secondary level for over 23 years. She is currently teaching English at Advanced and Intermediate level at Giovanni Curmi Post- Secondary School, Naxxar, a post she has held for over 15 years.

Ms. Elena Gauci

M.Ed., B.Ed. (Hons) and Diploma in Social Studies (Occupational Health and Safety), is a qualified Home Economics teacher with years of experience in teaching the subject at Ordinary, Intermediate
and Advanced Level. She has been teaching Home Economics for over 18 years and is currently teaching the subject at advanced level at Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary school. She is also a
visiting lecturer within the Faculty of Education at the University of Malta.

Mr. David Xuereb

David is a certified marketer, graduated with a masters degree from the University of Malta. He has a wealth of both practical and teaching experience, and prepares students for their Marketing Advanced and Intermediate exam. By providing real business use cases, he makes sure to teach the subject in a simple, fun yet effective manner.

Ms. Anita Zerafa

Anita Zerafa has a Bachelor of Education (Honours) degree in Spanish by the University of Malta and a Masters in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language by Universidad Educación a Distancia (UNED) of Madrid, Spain.
She has 20 years experience in teaching the language in different secondary state schools in Malta and is currently teaching Spanish full-time at Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School. For the past 15
years she has also been a visiting lecturer with the Department of Spanish and Latin American Studies at the University of Malta. Her motto is “vivir la lengua” (live the language). Thus, she strives to maintain
contact with native speakers both in Malta and in her visits to Spain. She has also spent a year living in Peru as a lay missionary where she has helped orphan children in their schoolwork as well as in their general upbringing.
Pure Mathematics Intermediate
Ms. Joanne Scicluna

Passionate about Mathematics from a young age, Ms Joanne had opted to become a Mathematics teacher, graduating with a Bachelor of Education specialising in Mathematics Education. At a later stage in life she also obtained a Masters Degree in Creativity and Innovation. She linked this course to her present post as a Pure Mathematics teacher through the dissertation, for which she chose to research the subject of the ‘Maltese Teachers’ Perspectives of Creativity in Post-Secondary Mathematics’. She started her career at Liceo Vassalli (Handaq boys Junior Lyceum) where she taught for 14 years. For the last 15 years she has been teaching Pure Mathematics at Intermediate and Advanced levels at Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary Naxxar.

Ms. Lorraine Buttigieg

Ms. Lorraine practiced sport as an athlete from a very young age. After retiring from competitive sport, she took on an administrative role and formed part of the Executive Committee for the Malta
Handball Association. She also experienced coaching children in volleyball and gymnastics for a few
years. Her passion for sport encouraged her to become a physical education teacher, graduating with a Bachelor of Honours (1 st class degree). She later obtained a Masters Degree in Educational
Research Methods. Ms. Lorraine has experience in teaching O’Level PE at secondary and post-secondary levels. She has also been teaching PE at Intermediate level within a Post-Secondary Institution since 2012 when this exam was launched by MATSEC.

Ms. Sue Wallbank

Sue Wallbank started her studies at the University of Malta where she read for her Bachelor of Commerce specialising in Accountancy and Insurance and Finance. She later went on to read for a Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) and a Master in Accountancy at the same university. Sue started her career working at one of Malta’s leading and largest professional services organisations and formed part of the tax consultancy department. She then moved on to teaching and has now been teaching accounting for the past 9 years.

Ms. Marisa Debono

Maria Assunta Debono (aka Marisa) B.Ed. (Hons.) (Melit.), Dip. LIS. (Melit.). A graduate of Physics and Mathematics, currently a post-secondary teacher teaching Physics at Advanced and Intermediate level at Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School, Naxxar. Between 1995 and 2007, she was engaged in teaching Physics at Ordinary level at St. Theresa College Lyceum, Mrieħel, Birkirkara.

Mr. Adrian Muscat

Adrian Muscat B.Ed (Hons), M.A. (Melit.) has been teaching Maltese at various levels for more than 20 years. For the past 11 years he has taught at Ordinary, Intermediate and Advanced levels at Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School. He is the co-author of over 20 books covering various syllabi at different levels of the Maltese language and literature. Currently he is reading for a PhD and the main area of interest is socio-linguistics.

Ms. Maria Sciberras

Maria Sciberras graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Maltese from the University of Malta. She has recently completed a course in Maltese proofreading and is currently reading for a Master of Arts in Maltese Literature. Maria has taught Maltese at ordinary level in secondary school.
History of Art
Ms. Elena Said

Graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in History of Art and European and Global History from the University of Malta, with a special interest in Renaissance, Modern Art and Digital Art. Her main goal is to enrich students with the history of Western Art, a discipline that allows us to both understand our history as well our relationship with the present whilst developing analytical and critical skills.
Creative Computing
Mr. Neil Spiteri

Passionate about science from a young age, Neil started out his student life studying mathematics and physics. Developing upon these subjects, he decided to focus on computer science, with a particular interest in the use of computers and technology within media and the arts. Neil opted to read for a B.Sc. in Creative Computing at the University of London, graduating with a First Class Honours. He focused his thesis on the application of machine learning, a tool used in artificial intelligence, to create heavy metal music. After 4 years in the industry as a software developer, specializing in artificial intelligence, Java and web development, he will now be reading for a Master’s degree in Digital Games at the University of Malta.
